In Fort Portal
It is Sunday afternoon now…
Last night, after a very long drive, we got to Kabali NP, where our FIVE guides (yes linda and I have five guys taking care of us!) had our private camp set up. It was very refreshing to sleep outdoors! I got the best night’s sleep so far. Even with the monkeys making noises.
Early in the AM we headed off to go chimp trekking in the NP. Unfortunately we didn’t get to see a troop, but we did see four individuals. The last was the best, a mom and baby. We sat and watched them for at least 30min. Afternoon we hiked back out and had lunch before driving back to Fort Portal. It was nice to be hiking…the first real activity since we have been in Africa. The chimps where amazing! between Linda and I, I’m sure we got at least a few good pics, since the forest was very dark it was difficult (will post another day).
Chris, are you getting the emails I’m sending you?
Tim, Linda took a bunch of pics of butterflies! There were tons of different colored ones.
Felix, I’m not sure what she meant by ’strong’ beef, since I didn’t taste it. Since then though she has gotten used to it and says it is good. btw, when is your last day of work? Don’t leave town before I get back!
We don’t have long, as our guide went shopping for food supplies in town before we head down to Queen Elizibeth NP.

Wow, 5 dudes taking care of the two of you! Sounds cool esp. sleeping outdoors and seeing all of those animals, which this time I will not name so that Tim cannot make fun of me!
My last day at work is still the end of February. I am starting to count down the days (19.5 business days and counting…) We finally found someone to replace me and I get to start offloading info onto him today. In any case, I probably won’t put my home on the market until after I get back from Knoxville/Asheville/Athens/Raleigh-Durham, which I’ll be flying to in the middle of March…
Oh! Quick request if you ever get on the internet again. Do you think you could give Stacey (or someone) admin rights for the WindSong page to delete all of the spam that is being posted there? The ratio of spam to valid messages there is now 3:1. She is doing very well by the way! (she told me she climbed 80 flights of stairs yesterday) Anyhow, take care and continue to have a wonderful time out there

Sleeping outdoors with the monkeys making noise is just about the same as going camping when all of we “monkeys” make noise so it probably just felt like home for you :). Glad to hear y’all are having an awesome time and I love the photos! I really like the hartebeast photo and of course the eagle too. Can’t wait to see the chimp and gorilla photos! And at least you will be safe since neither Tim nor Chris - the “I am not harassing/touching/picking up the wildlife” folks are with you :).
And hopefully even though the beef was “strong”, Linda was able to snag a 20 ouncer (though that includes a bone in the total weight of course).
