And you thought yosemite bears were bad! Maria here has got an attitude (pretty scary actually). She is the resident ophaned elephant in one national park campground where we stayed for three nights. She causes all kinds of mayhem, and will probably eventually have to be killed :( sad

maria!

Here is a pretty decent chimp picture, I haven’t gone through them all yet so there may be better ones

  1. Problem elephants in camp. Hmmm…Now that would be a BIG problem. Like the colobus monkey photos. You would be very shy too, though, if you got hunted by chimps! Can’t say I had every heard of lions climbing trees so that was really neat! I always thought it was the leopards in the trees and the lions hiding in the grass. So cool you got to see a baby mountain gorilla!!!

Alex and I survived ice climbing. He went leashless with heel spurs and managed to break his crampons with spurs after only two days. Despite his fears of dropping his leashless tools (he never wanted to climb where the river was right below us for fear of dropping and losing his new toys), he only dropped a tool once and caught it as he was falling. I, on the other hand, left one of my tools nicely planted in a crack while I went winging into space. Besides a torn ab muscle from trapeze and a bruised elbow from smacking into the ice after I went zinging out of a rock cave, we had lots of fun. Got to meet Biscuit the rock climbing terrier from the Banff Film Festival so that was our exciting wildlife viewing. Oh, and we saw a herd of bighorn sheep too and Alex got between one and the herd and freaked it out while trying to take photos. Think he got lots of white sheep butt shots.

Keep having fun and very much enjoying the photos!!
