Coyotes
About a month ago my dad sent me a link to the Daily Coyote, a blog that has taken off in popularity. It is written by a women living in some undisclosed town in Wyoming raising a coyote that she rescued as a pup.
Two things keep me going back for my daily coyote dose: the woman takes amazing pictures and vicariously living the fantasy of quiting the busy life and living in some random small town in a one room cabin with a cat and a coyote.
One thing I have been pondering a lot lately is the out-of-control urban sprawl in my area the past few years. I have a fabulous greenbelt behind my house and years ago I regularly saw all kinds of animals. Unfortunately, within the last couple of years I only see birds: the once long connecting greenbelt running the distance of a few cities has been chopped up and isolated by new homes.
With no means to get to my little island of green, the coyotes and deer are no more.:( The Daily Coyote has made me more aware of this fact and missing my once frequent wildlife.
Last week, taking most of the days off work, I sat at my computer and a movement on the hill outside my window caught my eye….it was a coyote! He (or she) was trotting along - so cute. It really made my day to see him! I just sat and stared at him while he stopped and checked some stuff out, then trotted off again.
Ironically the next day I happened to see him again going the other direction (I’m assuming it was the same one).
So I’m happy to say that apparently I still do have some remaining wildlife near my house.
