Coffee Art

coffee bunnyA few months ago I was getting some coffee at one of my many local Starbucks, and the barista handed me my cappuccino with a little design in the foam. At first I thought she did it by accident, but it turned out she was very proud of having recently learned how to make designs in the foam of cappuccinos and was enjoying practicing her newly found skill.

I had no idea that this was a thing - after a bit of googling, I discovered her simple design was just the beginning…

Click the Coffee Bunny picture to see more pics or better yet, check out this Video of several being made.

I might have to try this…

NW - Jan08

I’ve created a simple net-worth tracker ever since reading a post on the Simple Dollar about it. I like the idea of a simplified tracker, being able to set asset and debt goals and monitor the percentages.

As of this month:
Asset growth = -0.92%

Debt reduction = 3.26%

Overall Goal = 80.5%

Coyotes

About a month ago my dad sent me a link to the Daily Coyote, a blog that has taken off in popularity. It is written by a women living in some undisclosed town in Wyoming raising a coyote that she rescued as a pup.

Two things keep me going back for my daily coyote dose: the woman takes amazing pictures and vicariously living the fantasy of quiting the busy life and living in some random small town in a one room cabin with a cat and a coyote.

One thing I have been pondering a lot lately is the out-of-control urban sprawl in my area the past few years. I have a fabulous greenbelt behind my house and years ago I regularly saw all kinds of animals. Unfortunately, within the last couple of years I only see birds: the once long connecting greenbelt running the distance of a few cities has been chopped up and isolated by new homes.
With no means to get to my little island of green, the coyotes and deer are no more.:( The Daily Coyote has made me more aware of this fact and missing my once frequent wildlife.

Last week, taking most of the days off work, I sat at my computer and a movement on the hill outside my window caught my eye….it was a coyote! He (or she) was trotting along - so cute. It really made my day to see him! I just sat and stared at him while he stopped and checked some stuff out, then trotted off again.

Ironically the next day I happened to see him again going the other direction (I’m assuming it was the same one).

So I’m happy to say that apparently I still do have some remaining wildlife near my house.
