Biking Weather
The weather has turned in the last couple weeks from dreary winter rain to perfect spring-like weather. Sunny – warm but not hot with the occasional cool breeze.
This is the weather that I love about the Bay Area. It is in this season and into early Summer that makes me question my goal of relocating in a few years to a quieter and less expensive area.
The last couple weekends, with this awesome weather, have included two really nice bike rides.
Last weekend I did a ride called “Zoo Loop”, it started in Castro valley and rode through the hills and literally through the zoo. It was 26.4 miles with 2320′ – which was a challenge for me but doable and fun.
Today we did the Three Bear’s Loop – I was fairly intimidated by this ride from things I’ve heard. Ultimately though, at 23.5 miles and 1640′, it was much easier than last week’s Zoo Loop ride. I will note though that we did the counter-clock-wise version. From what I heard from riders that have done both and what I saw, it is a bit easier than the clock-wise version.
Both rides had beautiful riding weather! It was fabulous being outdoors and the scenery – particularly in the Zoo Loop – was inspiring.
Three Bear’s was too biker crowded for me – it is definitely the hot spot for cyclist, and some of the sections were pretty littered (not from cyclist, but from general public dumping).
…that’s what I’ve been doing for the last couple weekends.
