It’s been awhile…
Its been a long time since I posted last! Not really intentional, but life kept me busy, ironically thats the stuff I should be writing about.
I just returned from a short holiday in Peru, and as usual my solo international trips seem to put everything in perspective for me and generally regenerate my spirit - which was desparately needed this trip!
The first part of my trip took me to Machu Pichuu via Cusco, then on to the Amazon (Manu Wildlife Center). My original motivation for going to Peru was the Amazon - it has been on my list to visit for the last few years: since a traveler I met in Galapagos talked about going on an Amazon river cruise. Of course since I was going to Peru, Machu Picchu had to be checked out as well.
Of the two areas I went to visit I was surprisingly more impressed and enjoyed myself more on the MP portion. It was less touristy, more involved with the local cities and cutural …and the sceanery was absolutely brillent!
Mostly I really loved the culture and people there - very warm. Cusco, which turned out to be a city I went to three times: coming, inbetween MP and Manu and leaving, was a great city!
I should have my pictures and trip report up on ToriTravels soon (read: wishful planning by Christmas, reality maybe next year).
Next on my travel agenda is Namibia…
Sadly, Peru will be my only international trip in 2008 - the year just kind of slipped by.
