Cafe Yumm

During my visit to Bend Oregon I wasn’t very impressed by the meals we had while out and about - not that they were bad, but they weren’t particuarly good either. By the third day, we decided to ask a local. She suggested Cafe Yumm - good food plus all organic. Can’t beat that! So we decided to give it a try that evening.

We found Cafe Yumm in the Old Mill shopping district. At first I was a bit skeptical because it kind of has a fast food look to it. Their menu had a bunch of options and I almost went for the tasty sounding salmon (wild, line caught) burger. However, I could see they are known for their Yumm Bowls and since it may very well be the only time I would be able to experience Yumm (to date only located in Oregon), I figured it was only proper to experience their specialty.

I got their Original Yumm Bowl (sans sour cream and olives).
It starts off with organic brown rice and organic black beans layered with their secret sauce, then topped with organic salsa, cheddar, diced tomato, fresh avocado slices and cilantro.
It was super tasty - by far the best meal we had there (and ironically the cheapest and probably the most organic).

If you are in or travel through Eugene, Springfield or Bend Oregon, I highly recommend enjoying a Yumm Bowl!

Back to the civilized world of internet…

Surprisingly the fancy lodges in the more tourist developed Tanzania has no interent! So, we are now back in Arusha, overnight, waiting to begin our long journey back home which starts in about 18hrs.

Thirty days later, and three countries, it all went by very quickly but I’m ready to be home again (at least for awhile).

We saw a huge amount of animals: Leopards, Cheetahs and lions were our favs, but we also saw thousands, if not millions, of wildebeests, zebra, antelope (aka “cheetah food”), hyrax (cute Tibbs like animal), giraffe…

I have dozens of stories: how we almost got forced to stay in Narobi -yuck-, and watching a cheetah hunt (and fail :(), watching three cheetah boys try to win over one cheetah chick…in front of 6-10 safari trucks, watching parts of the migration, a wildebeest birth, teenage lions tease cap buffalo to make them chase them…
And I have thousands of pictures (about 4000 including a few videos). They will all now have to wait until I get home, make sure I still have a job and then sort through all the pictures….look for an Africa page soon!

Comments on the comments:
Yes, Linda got a bit obsessed with the over 18 pictures ;)

Talk to you all in a few days!

I think Linda will be posting a few new pics tonight, so you may want to check her site too.
