NW - Apr08

What happen to April?!
I’m skipping April’s Net Worth post for a few reasons, mainly though because I’m making a major purchase that will change my financial picture. While that is in the works any snapshot of my money will be misleading and inaccurate.
I’ll wait until the first week of May, once the [...]

Cat Poo Coffee

Three words I never thought to see together as a serious statement. I have heard of “weasel-poo”, but only as an adjective to describe bad coffee.
Unlike “weasel-poo” the adjective, cat poo coffee is actually coffee made from cat poo…or rather coffee beans taken out of cat poo. Apparently this is a good thing. [...]

Barista Competitions

…who knew?…
I had no idea such a thing existed. It actually turns out there are a few of them - annually.
I guess I shouldn’t be too surprised, after all coffee rocks! And a well made coffee is most definitely an art appreciated by coffee-lovers.
There is nothing as disappointing as getting a [...]

Taxes Done

Hooray! I’m done.

With my self-imposed deadline of March 31st approaching fast, I dedicated all day Sunday to completing my taxes that were started over a month ago. After dallying the morning away - I realized that I had to get going…then I put it off for another hour or so before I got [...]

Start of the Climbing Season

….at least for me it was.

Even though I was suffering from a cold I picked up on the way back from CO, the camping reservations were made and The Valley weather was forecasted to be perfect.
Although the place is amazing, I sometimes dread going to the Valley because of the crowds, crazy tourist and noisy [...]

Northern Colorado House Hunting

…again
A couple weekends ago, I headed up to Northern Colorado to house hunt again. Several months ago, I had visited Felix in Fort Collins and while he enthusiastically showed off the virtues of Fort Collins, the agent I had been working with remotely showed me some homes for sale in the area.
From [...]

NW - Mar08

I’m a little late posting this but the numbers are from the beginning of the month - March 6th.
My financial goal in February was to mostly complete my taxes and be ready to submit them mid-march. Unfortunately that goal was not met. My taxes are about half done…I’ve found many-many excuses [...]

No Impact Man

Last year, a friend of mine told me about something she had heard on NPR about a guy living in New York City with a “no impact for a year” goal. He planned on living for a year with no carbon impact. This meant no transport of any kind other than feet [...]

Solvang Half-Century

I’m happy to report that all went fabulously for me at the Solvang Half Century!
Up until quite recently I was a bit concerned about the Solvang Half Century that I had ambitiously signed up for back in December. However, like I wrote in my last post, I was feeling pretty well prepared and strong [...]

Sneaky Tuesday and the Golden Gate Bridge

Sneaky Tuesday
A couple weekends ago we had two storms come in back to back over the weekend. That was when I planned a long ride of 40 to 50 miles as training for my upcoming Solvang half century. I was annoyed that the weather was ruining my training plans, particularly when, come Monday, [...]
